[London 9th Reuters]-British Airways (BA) pilot union, British Air Pilots Association (BALPA), launched a 48-hour strike on the 9th due to a wage increase negotiations.
This is the first strike by the company's pilot. As a result, most flights were canceled, affecting thousands of passengers.
BALPA announced last September that a total of three days of strikes would be held. The strike is scheduled for the 27th, following the 9th and 10th.
The BALPA side insists that the profit distribution to the pilot should be increased. On the other hand, the management says that the presentation of wages is fair and the strike cannot be justified.
Thousands of people are searching for alternative means of transportation along with the strike, and the BA's response is being criticized, such as notifying customers prior to the strike.
BALPA's Executive Secretary Brian Stratton said, “This strike will force the company to pay much more than the investment required to make a wage negotiation. Serious to return to the negotiations and end the discussion. It ’s time to finalize the proposal. ”
