After the bitter end in the DFB Cup, 1. FC Köln has not returned to the road to success in the Bundesliga either.
Four days after the lost penalty drama against the second division Hamburger SV and a week after the clear 0: 4 league home defeat against FC Bayern Munich, the team of coach Steffen Baumgart had to win on Saturday evening with a happy 2:
Bochum - 2 (2:1) at VfL Bochum.
Although Cologne remained undefeated in their fifth away game in a row, they missed a closer approach to the European Cup places despite a 2-1 half-time lead through goals from Timo Hübers (36th minute) and Anthony Modeste (45th).
In front of 750 spectators in the Vonovia Ruhrstadion, Geritt Holtmann (25th) and Takuma Asano (70th) ensured the promoted team earned a well-deserved draw.
