Abstract.
Last spring, the online sports betting site PronoClub took advantage of the Champions League final and the start of Euro football to carry out a vast advertising campaign.
Thanks to the platform, punters can entrust a sum of money to tipsters, who are then responsible for making the right bets for them.
An illegal practice.
On September 15, the founder of the site Thomas Boursin was arrested by the “gaming police” in Rennes.
The 24-year-old is suspected of defrauding his clients.
Hundreds of users have filed a complaint, after noticing that they could no longer recover the sums invested in PronoClub.
According to preliminary estimates, the amount of the scam would amount to several million euros.
Two journalists from the Parisian narrative unit, Robin Korda and Vincent Mongaillard, tell Source Code about the PronoClub scam.
