For the first time since the outbreak of tensions between the two countries, Abdulian and Biramov spoke by telephone • Iranian Foreign Minister: "Do not let enemies disrupt our ties" • Azerbaijani counterpart: "Our relations are friendly"

Is the extraordinary tension between Baku and Tehran on the verge of a solution?

For the first time since Iran launched the "Khyber Conquerors" exercise, and in fact began the difficult exchange of messages between the parties - Iranian Foreign Ministers Amir Abdulian and Jihon Beiramov spoke by telephone last night (Tuesday).

"Both sides must not allow enemies to disrupt relations between the countries," Abdulian said, adding that "we must resolve the disagreements through dialogue."

However, it was only last Saturday that it became clear that the one who disrupted relations between the two countries was Iran - and that this had already taken place during the Second Carbach War.

The Azerbaijani "caliber" agency revealed that during the impressive advance of the Azerbaijani army forces in Karbach, Iranian fighters invaded Azeri territory under international law - and caused their progress to be halted.

However, Beiramov, who is known as a very pragmatic leader, chose a conversation between the two in a friendly way.

"Iran and Azerbaijan are in friendly relations," he said.

"Our relationship with our friends is our top priority."

Bayramov agreed with Abdulian that they should solve the problems through dialogue - and they both invited each other to Baku and Tehran.

The conversation between Abdulian and Biramov took place after Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Leila Abdullava attacked Tehran harshly on Tuesday.

"Our advice to those looking for terrorists is to take a good look around them," a spokeswoman for the Azeri Foreign Ministry said.

"We strongly reject the Iranian Foreign Ministry's allegations."

"We have already said during the Second Carbach War and we emphasize even today that there are no terrorists in Azerbaijan. In general, as a country that has suffered from terrorism, there has never been a place for terrorists in Azerbaijan."
