The Syrian Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade and the Jordanian Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply announced the reopening of the joint Syrian-Jordanian free zone and the start of business and economic and commercial activities as of the first day of December 2021.

The two sides indicated in a joint statement, a copy of which was received by SANA, that the reopening of the zone aims to activate the commercial movement, attract investments and activate the service sector, thus creating job opportunities and contributing to achieving support for the economic and social development process for both countries.

The statement pointed out that the reopening of the joint Syrian-Jordanian free zone took place after completing the requirements for its rehabilitation, returning it to work and ensuring its readiness to receive investments from both sides and from friendly countries.

The joint statement stated that the establishment of the free zone was carried out in accordance with the economic cooperation agreement and the regulation of trade exchange between the two countries, to be one of the pillars of the joint Arab economic action.
