(ANSA) - NAPLES, SEPTEMBER 16 - Neapolitan culture in mourning: the 84 year-old publisher and bookseller Tullio Pironti died last night. As a boxer youth (his autobiography in 'Libri e cazzotti', he was also called up in the national team at the beginning), Pironti continued the activity of his father and grandfather making many foreign authors known in Italy, including the Egyptian Nobel Prize winner Nagib Mahfuz.
He published 'Il camorrista' by Giuseppe Marrazzo on RaffaleCutolo from which the film by Giuseppe Tornatore with BenGazzara was based.
His bookshop in Piazza Dante - in which he was joined by his nephews Chiara and Cesare - was a point of reference for intellectuals and ordinary people, as well as for many students. The funeral will be held in Piazza Dante today at 4 pm in the Caravaggio Church. (HANDLE).
