Kiryat Shmona Municipality employees have been locked out of their jobs since the beginning of the war. The municipality issued a lockout order against them despite the evacuation, and some employees were forced to use sick days and even go on sick leave.

The Emergency Labor Service Law allows workplaces recognized by the Ministry of Health to recruit essential workers. Anyone who is absent from work during an emergency is not entitled to a salary and failure to show up is a criminal offense punishable by 3 years in prison.
