Foreign trade: pharma plummets, with a balance divided by ten. France is no longer at the forefront in the production and export of innovative medicines.

Between 2000 and 2022, exports grew by 34% according to Rexecode, while imports grew by 53%. The pharmaceutical industry has 271 industrial sites in France. But the drugs that come out of these factories sell less well abroad. They also produce too few innovative products with better value. 80% of drugs manufactured in France received marketing authorization eight years ago, and are not far from losing their patent.
