Israel Post received a fine of NIS 1.175 million last week for damage to service/public relations. The fine was imposed due to damage to public service by closing three branches and violating a direct instruction of Communications Minister Shlomo Karai not to close postal units.

The company has up to 45 days to argue its claims against the intention to impose the financial sanctions. Israel Post Company is prohibited from recruiting new employees as part of the recovery agreement with the Israeli government. The recovery agreement included layoffs of 20% of the post office's workforce.
