Spain, France and Belgium account for 80% of European imports of Russian liquefied gas. The IEEFA warns of the risk that the EU goes too far in the construction of new regasification terminals.

It calls to “not depend excessively” on the US for its energy supplies. Since 2022, when the war began, European gas demand has fallen 20% to its lowest level in a decade. The decline is a product of greater efficiency, warm winter temperatures and the destruction of demand due to high prices.
