The 3rd edition of the La Maestra conducting competition opens this week. Aged 19 to 42, of twelve nationalities, they were chosen from 197 candidates from 47 countries.

Some of which were presenting for the very first time, such as Azerbaijan or Palestine. At the forefront of the event is the Franco-British Stephanie Childress. At 25, she has just been named principal guest conductor of the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, after having been an assistant at the orchestra in Saint Louis, Missouri.
