Vittorio Sgarbi was sentenced to a fine of 2000 euros for the accusation of defamation against the former mayor of Rome Virginia Raggi. During a television programme, the art critic had targeted the administration.

The affair dates back to February 2018. The Rome prosecutor requested a 4-month prison sentence for Sgarba. The judge also ordered a provisional amount of 20 thousand euros in favor of RaggI. The case will be heard at the Court of Appeal in Rome in the next few days.
