Amazon and BMW win lawsuit against counterfeiting in Spain. Ruling from the European Union Trademark Court in Alicante found that the criminals had broken the law, breached Amazon policies and infringed BMW Group trademarks.
Amazon closed the defendants' sales accounts, eliminated the counterfeit product listings linked to the case and proactively refunded the customers involved. “We are proud of what we have been able to accomplish together so far to keep customers safe from bad actors,” explained Jochen Volkmer, Head of Intellectual Property Law, Trademarks and Design by BMW.
