Rome withdraws its candidacy to host the 2027 World Athletics Championships. Fidal has chosen to withdraw, with a letter sent to the president of World Athletics, Sebastian Coe, and in copy to the chairman of the Evaluation Commission, the Finnish Antti Pihlakoski.
The decision is consequent to the "acknowledgment of the absence of the minimum requirements to participate in the comparison" World Athletics' decision on the 20 27 World Cup is expected today.
