U.S. Security Adviser Jake Sullivan met with the Chinese Communist Party's foreign policy chief, Wang Yi, in Vienna.

Sullivan and Wang Yi had a "frank, substantive and constructive" discussion on key issues in bilateral relations between the US and China. The meeting is part of ongoing efforts to keep dialogue open with Beijing based on commitments made by Joe Biden and Xi Jinping in Bali last November. The US adviser and the Chinese official agreed to "maintain this important channel of communication"
