Astrud Gilberto, one of the voices that internationalized bossa nova, died Tuesday at the age of 83. Born Astrud Evangelina Weinert, she adopted the surname of her husband, fellow singer Joao Gilberto.

Her interpretations of songs such as Day by day, Agua de beber, Fly me to the moon, among many others, are also famous. The cause of her death was not immediately known, but her family reported her death on Instagram.
