Davide Fontana, 45, killed his ex-girlfriend Carol Maltesi in her home in Rescaldina, in the Milan area, first hitting her in the head with a hammer. He had been sentenced to 30 years in the first instance.
The Court recognized the aggravating circumstances of premeditation and cruelty, which had been found in first degree. For this the man was sentenced to thirty years and not to life imprisonment. The Milan Court of Assizes of Appeal has sentenced Fontana tolife imprisonment.
