Chef Marco Sacco, two Michelin stars at the Piccolo Lago restaurant in Verbania, was sentenced to two months and 20 days in prison for negligent injury and trade in harmful food substances. Same sentence for the dining room manager, Raffaella Marchetti.
The story concerns the wedding banquet organized in the venue, overlooking Lake Mergozzo, in July 2021. A risotto with clams was served which later turned out to be contaminated with norovirus.
