From Billie Eilish to Elvis Costello, 250 artists against artificial intelligence. More than 250 artists signed this Tuesday an open letter addressed to technology companies, developers and streaming platforms.
They recognize that AI, when used intelligently, can foster creativity. Unfortunately, “some of the largest and most powerful companies are using our work to train AI models without permission,” they say. These efforts directly aim to replace the work of human artists with massive amounts of AI-created “sounds” and “images” that substantially dilute the royalties paid to artists.
