GB accuses China of cyberattack, sanctions against Beijing. British government has announced sanctions against a hacker group believed to be controlled by the Chinese state, APT31.

The sanctions are in response to the cyber attack attributed to Beijing against the Electoral Commission. The Foreign Office reports this in a note signed by the Foreign Minister, David Cameron, the Interior Minister, James Cleverly, and by the deputy prime minister Oliver Dowden. Dowden himself spoke in the House of Commons about "malign" attacks and a "real" threat to national security.
