Heavy rains brought to the shores of our country large amounts of garbage. Among them also a blue fishing boat that probably came from outside the country.
Most of the waste (between 60-90%) found in the days and on the beaches is plastic, which is almost non-biodegradable. Plastic waste in the sea is the second largest cause of damage to the sea turtles off the coast of Israel. About 8 million tons of waste reach the seas and oceans every year. This figure is equivalent to emptying an entire garbage truck into the sea every minute.
