The strangler is a parasite on the roots of various plants in the desert. The suffocation blooms between February and April.

The inflorescence reaches a height of about 35-40 cm. The flowers secrete a lot of nectar, which is only for long-stemmed insects. Choking is especially common along the Dead Sea, and is often seen near Highway 90. In folk medicine, the yarrow flowers are used against jaundice and kidney stones. The root is eaten roasted.
