Police Headquarters shooting: the Court of Cassation rejects the appeal - last minute. Stefan Meran Alejandro Augusto, the Dominican citizen who on 4 October 2019, was brought to the police station in Trieste and killed officers Matteo Demenego and Pierluigi Rotta.
Meran had been recognized as incapable of understanding and wanting to remain in a Rems for thirty years. The Court accepted the opinion of the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Cassation Antonietta Picardi who ruled that the appeal was inadmissible.
