The fourth summit of the heads of state and government of the Council of Europe will take place in Reykjavik on 16 and 17 May. Icelandic police officers are on duty armed, instead of as usual only with a telescopic stick and pepper spray.

Local policemen are also joined by foreign policemen, especially from the Nordic countries. Much of the city centre is closed to traffic and the area around Harpa is completely closed to the public. The flags of Ukraine and Europe fly in the middle of those of Iceland.
