Russia: 3-year prison sentence requested for dissident Orlov - last minute. Orlov is accused of "discrediting" the Russian military under a gag law that effectively bans criticism of Russian troops' invasion of Ukraine.

The public prosecution has requested a two-year and 11-month prison sentence for Russian dissident Oleg Orlov, former co-president of the Memorial foundation which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2022. The online newspaper Mediazona reports that Orlov will be jailed for two years and 11 months.
