Survey of 18- to 29-year-olds by opinion research institute Civey shows that a good salary is the most important thing for the majority of respondents. A good work-life balance is a priority for 48 percent, the report continues.

The survey also provides some interesting results about the importance of work for young adults in general. "39 percent of respondents said they worked primarily to secure their livelihood," the report says; 25 percent described work merely as a means to an end.
