Disney+ had 157.8 million subscribers at the end of the first quarter of 2023. This is four million fewer than in the final quarter of the previous year.

It is the second consecutive loss of members for the streaming service. The largest part of the shrinkage was recorded in the Hotstar division.Hotstar is virtually the cheap version of Disney+, which is especially popular in India. Financially speaking, the Mouse House would rather lose a handful of Hotstar subscriptions than one of the more valuable premium memberships in its home market of America.
