Piero Pittaro, doyen of Friulian winemakers (and beyond), has died at the age of 89. Pittaro was heir to a family of winemaker with 400 years of history behind it.
His company was based in Codroipo, in the heart of the Grave del Friuli, where he produced white and red wines. He also established a wine museum where he set up around five thousand objects of interest related to the history of the vine and wine.
