'His views contradict European values' says EU representation in Israel. National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir was supposed to attend.

The presence - delegated by the government of Benyamin Netanyahu - of the radical right-wing leader, and Minister of National Security, had provoked a series of controversies. Both Yair Lapid, leader of the opposition, and other members of the same current had expressed strong reservations about BenGvir's participation. The Representation however chose to maintain "the 'Europe Day' cultural event for the Israeli public in order to celebrate a strong and constructive bilateral relationship"
