A great voice of Francophone literature, the writer originally from Guadeloupe, Maryse Condé, died last night in her sleep at the hospital in Apt, in the south of France. Born in Pointe-à-Pitre on 11 February 1934, she wrote around thirty books on Africa, on slavery, on multiple black identities.
