It calls for an immediate ceasefire for Ramadan respected by all parties. The adoption was greeted with long applause at the Security Council meeting in New York on Friday. The resolution was passed with 14 votes, with the U.S. abstention, and was adopted by the council with a vote of 14 in favor, one abstention and one vote against.
