There are currently four countries on the blacklist: Cuba, North Korea, Iran and Syria. The designation comes with a variety of sanctions, including restrictions on foreign assistance and a ban on exports and sales of defense products. The proposal was made by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, an ally of Donald Trump, suggesting a bipartisan legislative initiative which could materialize as early as next week.
