Vegan butter alternatives punished: After eco-test failure, Edeka is even removing the product from sale. Unlike margarine, vegan butter is supposed to be solid at room temperature.
Although many people consider them to be healthier, mineral oil has even been found in margarine. Ökotest has tested nine vegan alternatives to butter. At least traces of mineral oil were found in eight of the nine butter alternatives. As expected, seven products therefore failed. A disappointing result, even the best rated products can hardly be called winners.
