The president of the National Electoral Council (Cne), Elvis Amoroso announced today that the presidential elections will take place on July 28th. In a meeting held last October in Barbados, delegations from the government of President Nicolás Maduro and the opposition united in the Democratic United Platform (PUD) reached an agreement to hold presidential elections in the second half of 2024.
At the moment there is only one official presidential candidate, and it is the opposition leader Maria Corina Machado.
