A report by the Court of Auditors on livestock and climate is causing incomprehension among farmers. The authors of this 80-page document recommend "a significant reduction in livestock" to meet the France's international commitments to reduce methane emissions.

"These conclusions are very unfair," said Patrick Bénézit, a farmer in Cantal and president of the National Bovine Federation. "It makes me mad with rage, the peasants are killing themselves to feed the French," he said.
