Kibbutz Bar'am was established in 1949 and its founders were members of the Hashomer HaTsair movement. It is one of the last in Israel that still maintains a cooperative way of life.
"We're trying to keep our community together, it's not easy," says a spokeswoman. The entire kib butz is now in what has become for the Galilee evacuees the nickname "Otaf Kinneret" "We have a clinic, education and welfare systems. The cars are also at the disposal of the members," she says.
