“Geological sensation”: The highest show cave in Germany is in Bavaria.. As of: April 8, 2024, 8:59 p.m Wendelsteinhöhle usually doesn't open until May, but due to the mild weather it was open at the beginning of April.
In winter, when there is ice and snow, the cave is closed to visitors. Only experienced speleologists can then climb them - with crampons. The cave entrance is at 1,711 meters and is located directly behind the mountain station of the cog railway.
