Students from Lavoisier college in Pantin demonstrated in front of their establishment this Friday morning. They denounce the establishment of level groups in French and mathematics in sixth and fifth grade classes at the start of the 2024 school year.

This national measure, announced on December 5 by Gabriel Attal when he was still Minister of National Education, should allow colleges to create up to three groups of levels in these two fundamental subjects. The goal? Reduce the heterogeneity of levels – school diversity – in classrooms which “condemns certain students to stagnate and prevents others from soaring”
