7,000 more inhabitants in Melun by 2035: the projection that is causing debate. The new Local Urban Plan (PLU) 2024-2030 of Melun announces a natural need for 4,000 housing units.
The city would thus reach 49,840 inhabitants in 2035. A project of 60 to 80 housing units in the Lebarbier parking lot in the city center was announced in October 2023. Contested by the Réinventons Melun group, it was finally abandoned by the city.
