A federal court determines that Trump lacks presidential immunity in the criminal process for electoral interference. The Washington DC Circuit Court determines that the former president can be tried in the trial for the assault on the Capitol and the attempts to alter the electoral result.

Trump will almost certainly appeal immediately to the Supreme Court in an attempt to prevent the trial from taking place in March, as planned. The court could make a quick decision on the case and could speed up any ruling. It is one of four criminal cases facing Trump, who nevertheless remains the favorite to win the Republican presidential nomination.
