A 17-year-old girl died in Mexico's capital Monday after a firecracker exploded in her face. The Attorney General's Office of Mexico City said it initiated "an investigation of the events that occurred in the Nueva Industrial Vallejo neighborhood" The area was cordoned off after the incident.

The authorities had not, so far, made any arrests in connection with the young woman's death. The analysis of the video surveillance cameras is already carried out for the identification of the probable person responsible, authorities said.
