Bertha Yalter, 71, is charged with attempted murder after the attack at their North Miami Beach home. Her husband and attorneys have argued that the charges are excessive and that it was all about a fight that got out of hand.
The quarrel began after the husband received a letter from his ex-girlfriend who lives in Turkey - with whom he dated 60 years ago. When the woman found out about it, she allegedly bit, punched and tried to kill her husband by suffocating her with a pillow.
