AfDers are known to the Office for the Protection of the Constitution as Reich Citizens. The Identitarian Movement (IB) and the “Free Saxons” are classified as right-wing extremist by the Office.

Anyone who is a member of these groups cannot join the AfD. The AfD wants to defend itself legally. The Saxon AfD sees itself wrongly classified asRight-wing Extremist. The Ministry of the Interior has now provided information about AfD members' connections to the right- wing extremist scene.
