Alarm system breakdown: Hundreds of bank branches remain closed. Hundreds of branches of Postbank and Deutsche Bank affected.
Alarm system malfunction meant that the banks had to remain closed until the problem was solved. Around 550 Postbank branches and around 400 Deutsche Bank branches were affected. Last summer several German banks were attacked by hackers. Postbank was particularly affected, but records were also stolen from Deutsche Bank. The system was functional again around 11 a.m. on Monday (February 5th)
