Alcohol addiction is increasing in Germany – but the figures for Bavaria are surprising: “It cannot be explained purely medically”. In 2022, more people with alcohol addiction received outpatient or inpatient treatment.
The Free State is below the national average (see graphic): 1.62 percent of Bavaria, which corresponds to around 217,000 people, were treated for alcohol addiction in 2022. In 2017, according to the report, 1.02 million men and 453,000 women nationwide were proven to be alcohol dependent.
