Amazon announces an investment in Mexico greater than that of Tesla. Subsidiary Amazon Web Services will invest $5 billion in an infrastructure center to boost cloud computing services.

The investment is scheduled to take place over the next 15 years. The announcement coincides with a global trend of companies leaving China to move operations closer to their target markets, known in Mexico as nearshoring.
