Anthony Allegrini Jr., 18, was pronounced dead at the scene by Philadelphia Fire Department medics. The officers suffered minor injuries, according to police.
The southbound lanes of the interstate were closed to traffic early Sunday while police investigated, but reopened later in the morning. State police and the Philadelphia district attorney's office are investigating."The vehicles were racing, burnouts and drifting," with many people watching, police said. Two state agents were struck when the driver avoided stopping before the police operation.
