An inmate was found lifeless at the Nantes remand center on Sunday evening. According to the first elements of the investigation, he hanged himself.
An autopsy must take place. He was sentenced to fifteen months in prison at the end of summer 2023. In this prison where convicts serve short sentences or pretrial detention, the one who ended his life was 30 years old. The investigation was opened and the prosecution requested an autopsy to be carried out. “We have a suicide prevention plan. Lots of things are being done in this area to try to avoid, anticipate and detect moments when people could act out,” continues the communications department of the Grand-Ouest prison services.
