Apple will disable web apps on iPhone in Europe. Support will end with iOS 17.4, compliance with EU standards.
Users in Europe who click on web app icons will see a message asking whether they want to open them in Safari, Apple's browser, or cancel the operation. Apple: "Addressing the complex security and privacy concerns associated with web apps using alternative browser engines would require creating an entirely new integration architecture that does not currently exist in iOS and was not practical to undertake given the other demands"
