Bavaria, the nationwide weapons hotspot - one in five is in the Free State. The number of privately owned weapons in Bavaria is increasing, as is the number of weapons permits.
Nationwide, statistics for the end of last year recorded 5.02 million weapons, 941,697 private gun owners and 2.95 million gun permits. Last year, Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser announced that psychological suitability would be examined in future applications for a gun ownership card. However, within the federal government, the FDP is against tightening gun laws.
